Meet our new Chief People Officer, Anni Roinila
Hion
Our new Chief People Officer, Anni Roinila, joined us in February – and what better time to get to know her a bit better! Next up, Anni will answer a few questions and tell us more about herself.
What do you like to do in your free time, or do you have any hobbies?
I always have more ideas and enthusiasm for doing things than I actually have free time! Around this time of spring, I’d love to spend all my free time gardening and watching my little tulip field burst into bloom. I’d love to drink coffee and sparkling wine alternately in the sunshine. To run along forest paths and enjoy the spring greenery. Swim in lakes that are getting warmer by the day, and dream up all sorts of amazing summer concerts and trips. In reality, I’m shivering on the sidelines of football fields and riding arenas, nervously awaiting high school application results with my eldest, and trying to carve out time for friends, art exhibitions, and gym workouts. All of it – truly wonderful things!
How have your first months been, and what are you looking forward to?
Just over two months are already behind me, and I have a really good feeling about it. It feels like we have the pieces well in place here and I really get to do the development work that I came to Hion for. What I’m most looking forward to is seeing us take big steps forward as an organization. Embracing change boldly and working together to develop things like leadership and communication – both of which are key focus areas for our People efforts this year.
What was it that convinced you to join us?
Hion was familiar to me through my networks, and I had already been following the company’s story through them. In the interview, I was convinced by the strategy and growth targets, as well as the drive with which they are pursued. In addition to these, my own role and the opportunity to influence Hion’s future through it also inspired me, and of course, continue to inspire me!
What are the first things you plan to focus on in your new role?
We are currently focusing on People development through objectives. Currently, on my desk are culture, employee engagement, measuring engagement, supervisory work, and leadership development.
What are your most important principles as a Chief People Officer?
I’m not sure about “principles,” but I strongly believe in the power of participation and giving people a sense of influence – it’s a key driver of engagement, and something I aim to support in everything I do. At Hion, I want us to feel proud of our expertise, our community, and the impact we make – not just for our clients, but in the world around us.
Tell us something surprising that most people don’t know about you?
Many of my colleagues don’t realize just how strong-tempered I actually am. At work, I am mainly very calm and peaceful, but outside of work, I’m something completely different. 😀
Coffee or tea – and how do you take it?
Dark filter coffee with oat milk, please.
If you could learn any new skill, what would it be?
I’d love to be able to read people’s minds!
What message would you like to send to the professionals considering applying to work with us?
You’ll find a very warm, competent, and helpful community at Hion. We are a small but bold and spirited bunch, working closely together. According to our employee satisfaction survey, we are particularly proud of our work in responsibility, GSW, and DEIB, the excellent quality of our work, and how we get to be involved in helping our clients through the changes of the digital world.
If the above resonates with you, we might just be the perfect match for you!
